Jeremy recently made this toddler activity board for Jemma, so I thought Iโ€™d share a few pictures and basic instructions. When I say โ€œrecently,โ€ what I actually mean to say is, โ€œHe got all the materials back in March and didnโ€™t finish putting it all together until this past month,โ€ but better late than never.

Arenโ€™t those little sushi magnets so cute?

Jemma has been a handful recently, wanting to open and grab everything. Jeremy threw some of her favorite knick knacks on this board in the hopes that itโ€™ll keep her occupied. It does, somewhat, but of course sheโ€™d rather open things that belong to mom and dad. Still, she often crawls over to the activity board to entertain herself at least once a day.

Materials Needed

Jeremy picked up this plywood, door handle, and hinge from home depot. The wood letters were gifted to us from her 100 day party decorations; I think itโ€™s from Target or Ikea. The zippers, magnet board, and magnets are all from Daiso! The little sun mirror was repurposed from my makeup bag when I made her little baby activity gymโ€ฆ which she subsequently ripped off once she got strong enough. So this is the second repurposing of that mirror! So handy! You can really choose any knick knacks to put on top of your board, depending on what your little one is interested in. Daiso or other dollar stores are a great place to look.

Assembling the Activity Board

Once youโ€™ve gathered all your materials, assembly is pretty easy. Paint any of your wooden pieces, then hot glue all your toddler activity bits and pieces. For the zippers, just hot glue the very edges of the fabric so that thereโ€™s space for the zipper to open and close. If youโ€™re doing a door with a handle, you may have a few extra steps. Youโ€™ll need to saw a piece of wood to fit your board and use a drill to screw in the handle and hinge.

Thatโ€™s really all there is to it! If you put a lot of effort into painting your board and finding coordinating activity pieces, it could make a really nice gift as well. Happy crafting!

So happy with her board, she fell flat on her face in gratitude.
