]]>For anyone wondering if tahini will work in place of the sesame paste, I tried this recipe with 125ml of Sunita brand dark tahini and reduced the oil to 1.5 tablespoons. It worked! A nice cake with that savoury flavour from the tahini. One thing is I baked it for 20 min and my toothpick came out clean, but once out of the oven I realised the cakes were not quite done in the middle — but might just be my oven. I’m going to find some black sesame paste and try as written next, but good to know in case the paste is difficult to find for some.
]]>Yes! You can substitute an equal amount in volume of melted butter, but the cake may dry out a little faster, as oil helps to keep cakes moist.
